Resources and upkeep

What you gather

Your city runs on four resources and two other measures.

  • Wood, stone, iron and food pay for buildings, traps, turrets and troops. Food is labelled Grain in the app.
  • Gold pays for Academy research, founding an alliance and upgrading treasures. It is earned in play, mostly from hunts and tasks.
  • Workers are the people of your city. Buildings, training and market listings all need them.

Coins are separate. They speed things up and buy items. Everything coins do can also be done with time.

A new city starts with 800 of each of the four resources, 50 workers and 30 coins.

How fields produce

Each city has four lumber camps, four quarries, four iron pits and four farmlands. A field produces a fixed amount per hour that depends only on its level:

Field levelOutput per hour
06
115
226
202,695

Output from held oases is added on top. Academy research then raises it further: Forestry, Masonry and Smelting add 5% per level to wood, stone and iron, and Agriculture adds 10% per level to food. Each line goes up to level 10.

The Keep produces your workers. At level 0 it brings in 5 an hour, and your worker total stops growing once it holds ten hours of that output.

The storehouse

The storehouse sets how much of each resource you can keep. It holds 800 of each resource at level 0, 2,000 at level 1 and 449,300 at level 20. Anything produced beyond the limit is lost, and rewards you collect are cut to fit. Your stores start full, so the storehouse is a sensible first upgrade.

The hidden cellar

Raiders cannot take what the hidden cellar hides. It protects an amount of each resource, from 750 at level 1 up to 100,000 at level 20. Before you expect a raid, spend what the cellar cannot cover. A general with the Plunder skill can reach a share of the goods hidden in an enemy cellar.

Upkeep

Every troop eats food each hour. The cost per unit is 1 for Footmen, 4 for Riders, 2 for Bowmen and 10 for Catapults. This is taken from your food income, and it counts troops that are away on a march as well as those at home.

If your food stock reaches zero while income is negative, your troops starve: 30% of every troop type dies, and the same happens again each hour the shortage lasts. Keep your farmland ahead of your army.

Buying with coins

Coins can be exchanged for resources: 20,000 units of wood, stone, iron or food for each coin, or 2,000 gold. You can never buy more than your storehouse can hold.
