Your general
Your general leads every march and adds to each battle. You earn points to spend as your ruler climbs the titles, and some tasks grant more. Points come in two kinds.
Attribute points go into four attributes. A new general starts with 20 attack, 20 defence, 20 fortune and 0 speed, and no attribute can go above 100.
- Attack and defence each add 0.5% to your troops for every point.
- Speed adds 1% for every point and shortens marches.
- Fortune improves hunts and brings a chance of double and triple hits in battle.
Skill points buy levels in five skills, each up to level 10. A level costs one point more than the last, so level 1 costs 2 points and level 10 costs 11.
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
| Lockpicking | Opens stronger locked chests |
| Ambush | 3% a level that a march sets out unseen, 30% at level 10 |
| Field Medicine | 2% a level of wounded troops come back, 20% at level 10 |
| Plunder | 5% a level of hidden goods within reach, 50% at level 10 |
| Persuasion | Turns some troops caught in your traps to your side |
If you want a different balance, you can reset attribute points for 20 coins, and skill points for another 20 coins. The points return to your pool.
Equipment
The general has five equipment slots: a sword, armour, a horse, a manual and a ring. Each piece can go up to level 20.
- A sword adds 2 attack for each level.
- Armour adds 2 defence for each level.
- A horse adds 2 speed for each level.
- A ring adds 1 fortune for each level.
Equipment is a treasure, and treasures sit in your bag until you equip them. A slot that is already filled has to be emptied first. Treasures come from hunts, tasks, chests and the Daily Chance. Treasures you do not need can be sold.
Enhancing
Enhancing uses tempering stones and starts at item level 5. Each attempt has a stone cost and a chance of holding, and the chance falls as the level rises.
| Step | Stones | Chance | Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| To +1 | 4 | 100% | +2% |
| To +5 | 9 | 80% | +15% |
| To +10 | 18 | 64% | +33% |
| To +20 | 38 | 18% | +100% |
If you are short of stones, the game offers to cover the shortfall at 1 coin for each missing stone, and asks you to confirm first.
Upgrading
Upgrading raises an item by one level for gold and coins, and then starts a cooldown. The first upgrade costs 5,000 gold, 2 coins and a 50-minute cooldown. The last, from level 19 to 20, costs 1,109,000 gold, 91 coins and a cooldown of about 15 hours 45 minutes.
Compare these costs with what you gain before you commit. Combat basics shows how attack, defence and speed come into a fight.
